About Us

Some places ask to be seen. Arrábida asks to be felt.

The limestone cliffs that fall into the Atlantic. The silence of a pine forest above a turquoise bay. A dolphin surfacing close enough to hear it breathe. These are not things you can put on an itinerary — but they are exactly what we set out to give you.

Arrabida Untold is a curated travel platform born from decades of living, working and caring for one of Europe's last truly wild coastlines. We are the team behind four operations that have shaped how this territory is experienced: Aquarama's glass-hulled boats with their underwater windows onto the Atlantic; Anthia Diving Center's expert-led diving expeditions into the protected waters of the Arrábida Marine Park; Arrábida Life's dolphin watches, coasteering routes and open-water adventures; and Sesimbra Safari's off-road journeys through the Serra da Arrábida, where a distinctive zebra-painted Land Rover has been taking travellers into the heart of the natural park for years.

We are not operators who discovered Arrábida. We are people who never left it.

We came together because we believed this region deserved more than day-trip tourism. We wanted to build something for a different kind of traveller — curious, conscious, unhurried. Someone who comes not just to see Portugal, but to understand a corner of it deeply.

What we offer

Bespoke journeys across the full breadth of the Arrábida Natural Park — one of the most protected and spectacular landscapes in Western Europe. Private yacht cruises and dolphin watching expeditions. Diving in the crystalline waters of a protected marine reserve. 4x4 trails to clifftop viewpoints that don't appear on any map.

And then there is the table. Arrábida sits at the confluence of Atlantic seafood, ancient olive groves, and one of Portugal's most undiscovered wine regions — a landscape that has been quietly producing exceptional wines and oils long before anyone thought to write about them. We take that seriously. Our Vinhos & Marés cruises pair the region's finest wines with the ocean that shapes them. We bring private chefs aboard for lunches at anchor in secluded bays. We organise olive oil tastings at century-old estates, wine tastings at small producers few visitors ever find, and long meals that feel like they belong to another era entirely. Gastronomy here is not an add-on — it is part of the landscape.

Every programme is built around who you are, not what's available. We handle everything: transfers in our land fleet, coordination across sea and land, access to restricted beaches and private anchorages, and the kind of local knowledge that only comes from growing up here.

How we operate

We believe tourism should give back more than it takes. Every experience we design is shaped by six commitments:

Education & Ocean Awareness — On the water, our guides are certified marine ecologists. We don't just point at dolphins; we explain the ecosystem they live in, the migratory patterns, the biology of the Marine Park — and why protecting it matters.

Conservation in Practice — We run 3 to 4 underwater and coastal clean-up operations every year. In 2022, Anthia Diving Center participated in the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous underwater clean. Our boats carry less, and leave nothing behind. As members of the Comissão Consultiva da Arrábida Biosfera, we are actively involved in the decisions that shape the future of this protected territory.

Regional Producers & Culture — From wine and olive oil producers to local fishermen and artisans, we give the people who sustain this region a stage. What arrives on your plate or in your glass has a name, a history and a landscape behind it — it tells the story of how people have lived here, what they grew, what they fished, what they made with their hands across generations. That story is part of every experience we design.

Inclusive Access — Our vessels are adapted for wheelchair users. We believe the beauty of the Atlantic belongs to everyone.

Social Economy — Through the Turning Blue project, in partnership with Aproximar — Cooperativa de Inovação Social, we use the Blue Economy to create opportunity within our community.

Living Culture — We celebrate the identity of this land — its traditions, its people, the creativity that keeps it alive. The community is not a backdrop to your journey. It is the journey.

Why it matters

Arrábida is fragile. It is also extraordinary. The only way to protect something this rare is to help people fall in love with it — on the right terms. Small groups, expert guidance, respectful access, and a genuine relationship between visitor and place.

We are not selling activities. We are inviting you into a relationship with a remarkable piece of the world.
